View full detailsEuro profile cylinders are the standard locking mechanism for European-style multipoint lock systems found on entry doors across North America. When your existing cylinder wears out or you need to rekey your door, selecting the correct replacement requires matching the inside and outside measurements, door thickness, and keyway type. MPLocks stocks active cylinders from leading manufacturers including Hoppe, G-U/Ferco, AGB, and Yale, each offering different features like 90-degree thumb turns for quick lock status visibility or traditional 360-degree rotation. These cylinders are measured in millimeters from the housing edge to the center screw hole, with the inside measurement listed first and outside second.
Euro profile cylinder sizing can seem confusing at first, but the measurements follow a consistent pattern. A "35/55" cylinder means 35mm from the center screw hole to the interior thumb turn side, and 55mm to the exterior keyed side. Your door thickness and multipoint lock position determine which size you need. Most cylinders in this collection work with doors ranging from 1-3/4 inches to 3 inches thick, depending on your handle trim thickness. Hoppe's newer 90-degree thumb turn designs let you see at a glance whether your door is locked, while traditional 360-degree cylinders rotate freely in either direction.
Many active Euro cylinders in this collection use the Schlage SC1 keyway, one of the most common residential keyways in the United States. This means your locksmith can easily rekey the cylinder to match your existing house keys, or you can have multiple doors keyed alike for convenience. Cylinders with rekeyable designs allow you to change the keying yourself or through a professional without replacing the entire cylinder. Some models include two keys with purchase, while others may require separate key ordering.
To find the correct replacement cylinder, measure from the center of your existing cylinder's mounting screw to each end of the cylinder body. Write down both measurements in millimeters—the interior side (thumb turn) first, then the exterior side (key). Also note your door thickness and check whether your current cylinder uses a tang (a small metal projection that engages the multipoint lock mechanism). If you're unsure about any measurement or need a size not shown in this collection, contact our team for assistance finding the right match.
