Measuring for the Correct Cylinder Length

Selecting the right inactive cylinder requires measuring your door thickness and understanding how the cylinder sits within the lock case. The inside distance (from the center of the mounting screw hole to the interior face) and outside distance (to the exterior face) determine overall length. Doors that are 1-3/4 inches or thicker typically use cylinders ranging from approximately 41mm to 71mm in overall length. If you're replacing an existing cylinder, remove it and measure from end to end, or measure from the center screw hole to each face of the door.
