Identify your lock now!
Inactive euro profile cylinders provide a secure interior thumb turn for passive or secondary doors that don't require keyed entry from outside. These non-keyed cylinders are essential for completing multipoint lock systems on double doors, where only one door needs exterior key access. Most feature a 90-degree crescent knob design that offers an instant visual indication of your lock status.

View full detailsIn multipoint lock configurations, especially on French doors or double-entry systems, the inactive door requires a cylinder that can be operated only from the inside. MPLocks carries Hoppe inactive euro profile cylinders specifically designed for these applications. These cylinders fit standard euro profile mortise pockets and work seamlessly with Hoppe HLS9000, HLS7, and Fuhr multipoint lock systems. The thumb turn operation allows you to engage or disengage the locking points without needing a key, making daily use simple while maintaining security when the door is closed.
Most inactive cylinders in this collection feature Hoppe's 90-degree crescent knob thumb turn design. This engineering detail serves a practical purpose—you can tell at a glance whether your door is locked or unlocked based on the thumb turn position. Unlike traditional thumb turns that require a full 180-degree rotation, the 90-degree design provides faster operation and eliminates confusion about your door's security status, which is especially useful in households with multiple family members.
These Hoppe cylinders are constructed from solid brass for long-lasting durability and smooth operation over years of use. Available finishes include polished brass and rustic umber, allowing you to match existing door hardware throughout your home. The quality construction ensures the thumb turn mechanism operates reliably without the looseness or sticking that can occur with lower-grade cylinders.
Selecting the right inactive cylinder requires measuring your door thickness and understanding how the cylinder sits within the lock case. The inside distance (from the center of the mounting screw hole to the interior face) and outside distance (to the exterior face) determine overall length. Doors that are 1-3/4 inches or thicker typically use cylinders ranging from approximately 41mm to 71mm in overall length. If you're replacing an existing cylinder, remove it and measure from end to end, or measure from the center screw hole to each face of the door.
