Adding handle extensions increases the distance between your lever and the lock mechanism, which typically requires a longer spindle to maintain proper engagement. When adding one extension, a 5-1/2 inch spindle is generally needed. For installations using two extensions, upgrade to a 6-1/4 inch spindle. The standard spindle diameter for HOPPE extensions is 5/16 inch (8mm), matching the factory spindle size used in HOPPE multipoint lock handlesets.
