How to Connect the Top Extension to a HOPPE Multipoint Lock Gearbox (Video Guide)

In this video, we’ll show you how to attach the top (or middle) extension to a HOPPE gearbox on a multipoint lock. It’s very important to line up the notches correctly when connecting the two pieces. If they’re misaligned, lifting the handle won’t engage the lock at the top of the door, which can leave the door less secure and may even damage your door jamb over time.

We’ll walk through the process step by step:

    1. Start by unscrewing the retaining screw on the gearbox so the top extension can be attached.
    2. Align the notched end of the extension rod with the notched piece inside the gearbox. Make sure these notches fit together properly.
    3. Once everything is aligned, reinstall the screw to secure the extension to the gearbox.
    4. Test the mechanism by moving the top extension and confirming that the movable parts of the lower gear move at the same time.
    5. If the lower gear does not move when you operate the top extension, the notches are not lined up correctly and you’ll need to remove the extension and realign them.

When everything is properly connected, lifting the handle will activate the locking points at both the top and bottom of the door.
