HOPPE HLS Multipoint Lock Installation & Adjustment for Swing Doors

This guide explains how to install, adjust, and service HOPPE HLS multipoint hardware for swing doors. Throughout this process, the steps are designed to help you achieve proper alignment, smooth operation, and reliable locking performance.

Installation of Multipoint Swing Door Hardware

Lockcase Orientation (Latch Bevel Direction)
Before installing the lockcase, check that the latch bevel is facing the correct direction. The bevel must allow the door to clear the frame as it closes and slide smoothly into the strike plate. If the bevel is reversed, the door may bind or fail to close properly.

Reversing the Latch (If Required)
If the latch orientation needs to be changed, insert a small screwdriver or punch into the latch reversing hole. Push the latch upward until it clears the lockcase, rotate it 180 degrees, and release it back into position.

Main Gear Installation
Slide the main gear into the mortised pocket in the door edge. Align it with the pre-drilled holes for the handle, cylinder, and trim hardware. Correct alignment at this stage helps prevent operating issues later.

Handle Set Installation
Install the handle set using the instructions provided with the specific swinging patio door handle. Proper handle installation is essential for the multipoint system to function correctly.

Top Extension Attachment
Remove the machine screw at the top of the lockcase and slide the top extension into place. Secure it to the lockcase using the supplied machine screws, then fasten the extension to the door edge using #6 screws. Install the screws flush with the faceplate and avoid over-tightening.

System Test (Door Open)
With the door open, test the multipoint system. On handle-activated systems, lift the handle to engage the locking points and turn the thumbturn to extend the deadbolt. If the system operates on the door edge, extending the deadbolt confirms that the hardware is functioning properly.

Fastener Guidance
All fasteners on the main gear and extensions should be hand-tightened only. Over-tightening can cause the drive rail to bind and affect system operation.

Inactive Gear Assembly Instructions

Inactive multipoint gear should be assembled in the activated (locked) position. This keeps the door secured while still allowing the shootbolts to retract when access is needed.
