This Marvin Active Vertical Rod Lock Body is a concealed rod multipoint lock designed for active doors in single or double French door configurations. The lock body features a spring latch and deadbolt mechanism, with vertical locking rods that screw into the mortise lock body. Please note that the locking rods are not included with this lock body.

This lock is specifically designed for active doors only. The passive door requires a different lock. The faceplate features radius (rounded) corners and measures 8-3/8 inches in length by 3/4 inch in width.

Notes

Since this lock is discontinued, several replacement options are available:

For Single Doors (best suited for trim carpenters):

  • Switch to a single point lock with a slightly larger body (40160). You will need a new strike plate (395035) and a new lock faceplate (395040).
  • Route door edge and install face mount shootbolt version multipoint lock (Truth Sentry, key above). Will need new strike plates.
  • Replace door(s).

For Double Doors (best suited for trim carpenters):

  • Switch to a single point system, replacing both active and passive locks. Add flush bolts to passive door in place of rod version. Will need new strike plates, faceplates, and flush bolts.
  • Replace active and passive locks with shootbolt version (route face mount on door edge).

What is the difference between active and passive door locks?

The active door is the primary door you use to enter and exit, which operates the locking mechanism. The passive door remains stationary and requires a different lock designed for that application.

Are the vertical locking rods included with this lock body?

No, this is the lock body only. The vertical locking rods that screw into the mortise lock body are sold separately.
