View full detailsThe GU Europa Rhino series represents one of the most robust multipoint locking solutions available for residential and commercial entry doors. These locks utilize a hookbolt mechanism that physically grabs the strike plate when engaged, creating a secure connection that resists forced entry attempts far better than standard latchbolts. MPLocks carries the complete range of Rhino hook components, from standalone 3-point lock bodies that can be upgraded to 5-point systems, to ready-to-install kits with all necessary hardware included. The Europa configuration positions the key cylinder below the handle—a common setup in European-style door systems now widely used in North American construction.
The defining feature of the Rhino series is its hookbolt design, which provides significantly greater holding power than tongue or roller-style locks. When the door handle is lifted or the key is turned, the hooks rotate outward into the strike plate, anchoring the door at multiple points along its height. This makes the Rhino particularly effective for taller doors where additional security points are needed. The solid steel construction and Ferguard corrosion-resistant coating ensure these locks maintain reliable operation for years, even in demanding environments.
GU designed the Rhino platform with flexibility in mind. A standard 3-point lock body includes two hookbolts and a central deadbolt, providing solid baseline security. For doors requiring additional protection, the system easily expands to 5-point by adding top and bottom shootbolt extensions. This modular approach means you can match the security level to your specific door height and requirements without replacing the entire lock assembly. The complete kits in this collection include shootbolts, hookbolts, deadbolt, and installation screws for a straightforward upgrade.
Proper sizing is essential when replacing a GU Rhino multipoint lock. The backset—measured from the door edge to the center of the cylinder or handle spindle—ranges from 30mm (1-3/16 inch) to 50mm (2 inch) in this collection. The PZ measurement of 92mm (3-5/8 inch) indicates the distance from the handle spindle center to the cylinder center, which determines handleset compatibility. Before ordering, measure your existing lock or door prep carefully, as these dimensions must match for proper installation and handle alignment.
