View full detailsWhen a Fuhr multipoint lock stops engaging properly, the lock case—also called the gearbox—is often the component that needs replacement. MPLocks stocks genuine Fuhr replacement lock cases engineered to restore full functionality to your existing lock system without replacing the entire assembly. These gearboxes work with Fuhr's lift-lever operation, where raising the handle engages the locking points throughout the door. Understanding which lock case fits your system is critical, as Fuhr has produced different generations of hardware with distinct mounting configurations.
The Fuhr lock cases in this collection are specifically designed for the newer style Fuhr locks that connect to the faceplate using three screws. This is a crucial compatibility factor—if your current lock case mounts differently or uses a different number of screws, these replacements will not fit. Before ordering, examine how your existing gearbox attaches to the faceplate. The three-screw design represents Fuhr's updated lock case construction and is not interchangeable with older Fuhr lock generations.
Both available lock cases feature a 92mm PZ measurement, which is the standard 3-5/8 inch distance from the handle spindle center to the cylinder center. The backset options—35mm (1-3/8 inch) and 45mm (1-3/4 inch)—determine how far the lock mechanism sits from the door edge. Matching your existing backset exactly ensures the lock case aligns with your door preparation and existing hardware cutouts. These lock cases include an 8mm spindle hub compatible with standard Fuhr lift-lever handles.
The most common mistake when ordering a replacement lock case is assuming all Fuhr gearboxes are interchangeable—they are not. To verify compatibility, remove your existing lock case and confirm it uses the three-screw faceplate connection, then measure your backset from the center of the faceplate to the center of the spindle hub. If your measurements match either the 35mm or 45mm option and your lock uses the three-screw design, you've found the right replacement. This lock case does not include extensions, handles, or strike plates.
