Pella Replacement Mortise Lock – 85mm PZ, 60mm Backset (40176)

This aftermarket mortise lock serves as a replacement option for Cifial and Pella single-point mortise locks. Please note that this is NOT an exact fit replacement and will require some door modification for proper installation.

The lock features a PZ (handle spacing) of 3-11/32 inches (85mm), which matches the original Pella specification rather than the standard 3-5/8 inches (92mm). The backset measures 2-3/8 inches (60mm), slightly larger than the original Pella backset of 2-3/16 inches (55mm).

Notes

The original Pella lock had radius (rounded) corners on the faceplate, while this replacement has square corners. You will need to chisel out small sections of the door mortise to accommodate the square corners.
Use a razor blade to scratch your measurements into the edge of the door, then chisel out those sections until the new lock fits properly.
There will be approximately a 3/16 inch wide mark visible from where the old trim was mounted compared to where the new trim mounts.
The Pella handleset trim plate (1-3/4 x 9-7/8 inches) should cover most screw holes and marks from the previous installation.
You may need to drill new screw holes and/or enlarge existing holes for the handle and cylinder.
