Changing Amesbury Multipoint Lock Handing (P1000 & P2000)

Two Premier Series: P1000 and P2000

Spring latches on multipoint locks are beveled in one direction or the other, which determines the lock’s handing. If the bevel faces the wrong way, the door won’t latch properly—for example, when a left-handed lock is installed on a right-handed door, or vice versa.

To fix this, you simply need to reverse the bevel. On most multipoint locks, including Amesbury models, homeowners can usually do this themselves.

Amesbury manufactures two series of multipoint locks: the Premier P1000 and the Premier P2000. The handing can be adjusted on both, although the process is slightly different. If you have any questions, or if this method doesn’t solve the problem, please email us and we’ll be happy to help.
