This Amesbury P2000 replacement kit is designed to replace old style G-U shootbolt multipoint locks with 20mm faceplate, 50mm backset, and 35-inch handle height configurations. The kit provides a complete solution for doors ranging from 94 inches to 107.5 inches in panel height.

The old G-U 20/50/92 shootbolt locks are no longer available, making this P2000 kit the recommended replacement option. While the new lock features a 45mm backset compared to the original 50mm backset (a difference of slightly more than 3/16 inch), installation is straightforward with a few adjustment options available.

Installation Considerations

The latch and deadbolt positions on the new P2000 lock differ from the original by approximately 1/4 to 3/8 inch. The existing strike plate will likely require modification. Here are your options:

Best recommendation: Enlarge the holes in the existing strike to accommodate the new latch and deadbolt locations.

Alternative option: Move the new lock up 1/2 inch to 7/16 inch. This allows the strike to remain in place and the bottom shootbolt is adjustable. This changes the handle height to 35-1/2 inches and may expose old trim screw holes, which can be covered using a 2 x 12 inch trim plate.

Least recommended: Move the strike plate. This is not highly suggested as it leaves marks on the jamb and creates problems for vinyl doors.

  • Double doors may present challenges with optional trim as there is no thumb turn on passive side
