Amesbury P2000 Multipoint Lock Kit – 45/92, 20mm (499060020-KIT)

This Amesbury P2000 multipoint lock kit is designed as a replacement solution for the discontinued old style G-U 20/50/92 shootbolt multipoint lock (part number 4990319). The original G-U lock featured a 20mm faceplate, 50mm backset, and 35-inch handle height. This replacement kit uses a 45mm backset, which is approximately 3/16 inch less than the original 50mm backset.

The kit includes the P2000 lock case with American cylinder compatibility, two 20mm shootbolt tips for top and bottom (5670-80-81), and the 20-2295 20mm middle shootbolt extension for upper adjustment. This configuration fits doors ranging from 81 inches to 94-1/2 inches in panel height.

Notes

  • The latch and deadbolt locations differ from the original by approximately 1/4 to 3/8 inch
  • Strike modification is typically required. Best option is to enlarge holes in existing strike to accommodate new latch and deadbolt positions
  • Alternative: Move lock up 1/2 inch to 7/16 inch to keep strike in place (changes handle height to 35-1/2 inches and may expose old screw holes)
  • Moving the strike is not recommended, especially for vinyl doors
  • To change handing or reverse latch: lift lever to extend deadbolt, pull spring latch out, rotate to correct position, and test function before closing door
  • Contact office for double French door configurations

Yes, in most cases. The latch and deadbolt positions differ by approximately 1/4 to 3/8 inch from the original G-U lock. The best option is to enlarge the holes in your existing strike to accommodate the new positions.

How do I reverse the latch handing on this lock?

Lift the lever to extend the deadbolt, pull the spring latch out, rotate it to the correct position, then test the function before closing the door.

What is the difference between the 45mm and original 50mm backset?

The difference is slightly more than 3/16 inch. The 45mm backset measures 1.77 inches compared to the original 50mm at 1.97 inches.
